Lunch & Learns
The Lunch and Learn Series are comprised of two hour seminars that focus on skill development that directly correlate to the Organizational Competencies. These courses are sponsored by ODT, but frequently include guest speakers from the Employee Assistance Program. These programs are offered on all three campuses. Recent and upcoming topics focused on communication, organization and customer service skills.
Food for Thought: Performance Development Program
A series of two hour programs based on the Performance Development Program (PDP). These programs provide an overview of the PDP, tools and resources available to prepare you to effectively participate in the professional development program. Programs are offered on all three campuses. Topics include writing goals for the performance development plan and your role in the performance review.
Participation in these programs will enable you to:
- Contribute to the development of performance plan and goals
- Continue to develop and enhance the skills and competencies necessary for success in the position
- Request coaching to keep goals on track and to achieve expected performance
- Provide input to the Performance Review process.
Lunch & Learn: Effective Meeting Management and Participation.
Have you ever left a meeting frustrated and wondered why you attended? Does it seem that the same people are always talking and you are not clear about the purpose or resolutions? Do you want to enhance communication skills to more effectively participate in meetings?
Attend and learn:
- Tips for making your contributions count
- How to effectively prepare and use the agenda
- How body language, tone and active listening can emphasize your points
- Benefits of clarifying questions and restating to confirm understanding
- How to avoid diversions and arrive at meaningful conclusions
“Interaction with Others” is one of the Tufts Organizational
Competencies. Developing this competency requires enhancing
communication skills, being open to different viewpoints, effectively collaborating on projects and problem solving, giving and receiving candid and helpful feedback. Participate in this Lunch and Learn to enhance your communication skills and your ability to effectively contribute to meetings.

Individual contributors (non-managers) who would like to develop skills to make meetings more effective, worth the time and effort, and productive for all participants.
