Employee Self Service FAQ

What is Employee Self Service?
Employee Self Service, which has become a standard offering at many universities, provides you with instant access to important data such as:

  • Your past and present Paycheck information.
  • Your Benefits including links to your plan providers’ web sites.
  • Your Personal Information.

Some employees in my department do not have access to a computer. How does this system effect them?
An employee who has no access to a computer will continue to receive paper information as before. However, an employee who doesn’t have a workstation at Tufts University may have a home computer. Employee Self Service is available from any computer that has internet access.

What has Tufts University done to protect my information?
Several layers of reliable security protect the server containing your information. Your personal information is available to you only through a secure connection. The Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) is a commonly used protocol for managing the security of message transmission on the Internet. No one will be able to see your information except you. Only you can access your data using your password. Passwords used for Employee Self Service are required to be adequately complex, making them difficult to guess. It is essential that you do not share your password with anyone.

Why do I need a new password? I’ve already got too many to remember!
Although it would have been easier to use an existing password to access Employee Self Service, a higher level of security was needed for this system due to the sensitivity of this information. The decision was made to use PeopleSoft HR password security since it is well established , requires strong passwords and has been reviewed by internal and external auditors.

I use the Time Entry and ePAF systems. Will I be able to see my Employee Self Service information when I log into PeopleSoft for Time Entry?
No. Employee Self Service and other PeopleSoft HR applications share the same user ID and password; however, these applications are accessed differently. Employee Self Service will not be available from your PeopleSoft HR log in. Log in for both applications is available from http://eServe.hr.tufts.edu. Save this page to your “Favorites”.

I forgot my password! What can I do?
When you initially logged into Employee Self Service, you created a Security Question. Go to the log in page and select “Forgot your password site” or click here. Follow the directions provided. If you are still not able to access your account, contact the University IT Support Center (UITSC) at by e-mail: UITSC@tufts.edu or by phone: 617.627.3376

How can I print my paycheck?
There is a document that describes the process of printing your paycheck. Click here to access it. This document is also available through a link on the eServe home page.

I noticed that Internet Explorer is the only approved browser listed on your website. Can I use the Mozilla browser to access Employee Self Service?
You can access Employee Self Service using Mozilla, however the system is optimized for use with Internet Explorer. Some information does not display properly when using Mozilla, and for this reason Mozilla is not recommended.
